1. Block cleaned and inspected: thermal cleaning, shot blasting, magnaflux and pressure testing.
2. Crankshaft ground and polished on our CNC crankshaft grinder.
3. New pistons, rings and bearings installed to factory-clearance specs.
4. Remanufactured and updated cylinder heads: pressure tested, resurfaced, valve seats machined.
5. New or updated timing components, camshaft and lifter components where applicable; AFM eliminated on the delete build.
6. New oil pump where specified; oil pan, timing cover, valley cover, valve covers and balancer on Fully Loaded builds.
7. New gaskets, seals and internal wear components throughout.

Check the 8th character of your VIN: U is the LQ4, N is the LQ9, K is the LY6, G is the L96 and C is the L77. Hybrid (LFA / LZ1) and industrial (LC8) engines are identified from the full VIN. Send us your VIN and we'll confirm the code before shipment.

What is the best GM 6.0L engine?

The one your vehicle was built with. The LQ4 and L96 are iron-block work engines for towing and fleet duty, the LQ9 is the high-output version, and the LY6 and L96 power 2007-and-newer HD trucks and vans. We match the correct code to your VIN.

Is the LQ9 better than the LQ4?

The LQ9 is the higher-compression, higher-output Gen III 6.0L used in the Escalade, Silverado SS, Sierra Denali and Vortec Max. The LQ4 is the workhorse in HD pickups, vans and 2500 SUVs. The right one is the one that matches your VIN and calibration.

Can I replace an LQ4 with an L96?

Not as a direct swap. The LQ4 is Gen III and the L96 is Gen IV, with a different reluctor wheel, sensors, electronics, cam phasing and accessory layout. We recommend the same code your vehicle was built with, confirmed by VIN.
