FORD 6.2L (Boss) Engines

The FORD 6.2L (Boss) is a V8 engine designed specifically for heavy-duty applications from the Ford Motor Company.

The base engine consists of:

An all-aluminum engine block and cylinder head
Dual Overhead Camshafts (DOHC)
Variable Valve Timing (VVT)
Sequential multi-port fuel injection

The engine specifications include:

  • A displacement of 379 cubic inches (6,210 cubic centimeters)

  • 405 lb-ft (549 Nm) of torque at 4,500 rpm

The FORD 6.2L (Boss) engine was first introduced in 2011 as an option for heavy-duty pickup trucks and commercial vehicles. The engine's large displacement and low-end torque make it ideal for towing and hauling applications. The Boss engine features a cast iron block with aluminum heads, and has been updated throughout the years with improvements such as cylinder deactivation and direct injection.

The FORD 6.2L (Boss) is used in various Ford applications, including the F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks, as well as in the Ford E-Series and Transit commercial vans. The engine is also used in various specialty vehicles, such as the Ford Raptor and F-150 SVT Raptor.

The FORD 6.2L (Boss) engine was used in various Ford applications from 2011 to 2021, including:

  • Ford F-250 Super Duty (2011-2021)
  • Ford F-350 Super Duty (2011-2021)
  • Ford F-450 Super Duty (2011-2021)

It's worth noting that the FORD 6.2L (Boss) engine was not available on every trim level of the above models, and some models were equipped with different engines depending on the year and trim level. It's always best to consult the vehicle's specifications to confirm which engine is equipped.

A core deposit is a charge added to the purchase of most engines or transmissions. We use the term "deposit" because once your new part is installed, we'll graciously pick-up your old engine or transmission free of charge and then refund the core deposit you paid.
