This remanufactured GMC/Chevy 8.1L engine includes the following enhancements from Fraser Engines:

• Bore and hone all cylinders to OEM clearances (We check all clearances within .0001 of inch),
• Decking cylinder head(s) and block for straightness,
• Cutting valve seats and valves to proper degree,
• Line boring/honing crankshaft/camshaft tunnels,
• Ground & polish crankshaft, new or remanufactured camshaft(s),
• New main bearings, rod bearings, pistons, piston rings, lifters, pushrods (if equipped), timing components, oil pump, head bolts,
• All new internal gaskets and seals.
• All finishing gaskets are included (MAY VARY PER APPLICATION).

GMC/Chevy 8.1L engine (L18)

The GMC/Chevy 8.1L engine (L18) is a V8 engine designed specifically for use in vehicles from General Motors.

The base engine consists of:

• An iron engine block and cylinder head
• Overhead valves (OHV)
• Sequential fuel injection
• Electronic throttle control

The engine specifications include:

• A displacement of 496 cubic inches (8,128 cubic centimeters)
• 4.25 in x 4.37 in (107.9 mm x 111.1 mm) cylinder bore and piston stroke
• 9.1:1 compression ratio
• 330 to 340 horsepower (246 to 254 kW) at 4,200 to 4,400 rpm
• 440 to 455 lb-ft (597 to 617 Nm) of torque at 3,200 to 3,600 rpm

The GMC/Chevy 8.1L engine was first introduced in 2001, as an option for heavy-duty pickups, vans, and SUVs. The engine was an upgrade to the popular 7.4L engine and offered more power and torque for towing and hauling. The engine was available until 2009 and was replaced by a smaller 6.0L engine.
