Which 4.3L do I need: Vortec or EcoTec3?

2013-and-older Silverado / Sierra, S-10, Sonoma, Blazer, Jimmy, Bravada, Astro, Safari and older vans use the Vortec (Option 1). The 2014–2019 Silverado and Sierra 1500 use the EcoTec3 LV3 (Option 2). They don't interchange; we confirm by VIN.

Is a remanufactured 4.3L better than a used engine?

For most owners and fleets, yes. A used 4.3L may have coolant-contaminated oil, collapsed lifters or worn rings. A Fraser 4.3L is zero-mile, VIN-matched and warrantied for 3 or 5 years with unlimited miles.
