Fraser Advantage Transmission Quality Checks

  • All transmissions are completely disassembled and cleaned.
  • All cases are media blasted.
  • Internal parts are inspected for wear or damage and replaced as required.
  • All bushings are inspected and replaced as required.
  • 100% of friction components are replaced with upgraded heavy duty parts.
  • Drum assemblies are air checked and side play is checked to assure proper clearance.
  • 100% of seals, o’rings and gaskets are replaced.
  • 100% of solenoids are checked and replaced if they do not pass duty cycle tests.
  • Internal wiring harnesses are checked and replaced as necessary.
  • Valve bodies are disassembled, cleaned, and measured for wear.
  • Valve body valves and valve bores are inspected and valve bores are machined as required.
  • Completed valve bodies are tested for proper operation prior to dyno testing.
  • Transmissions are assembled, end plays are set and fasteners are torqued to the required specification.
  • 100% of transmissions are dynamometer tested to ensure proper pressures and shift quality throughout the operating range. All upshifts and downshifts are checked against preset parameters. Torque converted stall speed and lockup is verified on the dynamo test. Transmission park locking mechanism is checked during dyno test.

The Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 47RE transmission is a four-speed automatic transmission designed for use in select vehicles from the Chrysler family of brands.

The base transmission consists of:

An all-aluminum case and extension housing Hydraulically-controlled planetary gear sets Electronic shift control Overdrive and lock-up torque converter

The transmission specifications include:

Gear ratios: 2.45:1 (1st), 1.45:1 (2nd), 1.00:1 (3rd), 0.69:1 (4th) 6-bolt hexagon bolt pattern 23.3 in (593 mm) transmission length 200 to 300 pounds (91 to 136 kg) weight Rated to handle up to 700 lb-ft (949 Nm) of torque

The 47RE transmission was introduced in 1996 and was used primarily in select Dodge Ram pickups and vans, including those with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine or V10 gas engine. It featured improved electronic controls that allowed for smooth shifting and torque converter lock-up, leading to better fuel efficiency and drivability.

The 47RE transmission remained in use until 2002, when it was replaced by the 48RE transmission. However, the 47RE remains a popular choice for truck enthusiasts and is still commonly found in older Dodge Ram pickups and vans. Its durable construction and ability to handle high torque make it a reliable choice for heavy-duty applications.
